My research has investigated the discipline of strategy through the embodied practice of sport climbing. In doing so I have drawn a parallel between my own ‘human’ body and the ‘body’ of an organisation. As Innovation Managers we need to develop an awareness of the landscapes our ‘bodies’ exist in and continuously search for new and creative ways to move through these spaces. This movement necessitates a continuous reorganisation of the body.
This project has looked, in particular, at the formation of strategies in uncertain, dynamic landscapes. How do we strategise? Is there more to acting strategically than the articulation of clear plans and directions? What restricts or informs our agency?
