I’m Disha, a textile designer from India with 7 years of experience. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion & Textiles from NIFT in 2010, I worked as a Product Merchandiser for H&M in their corporate office to understand and explore the business of fast fashion. Later, I worked as a Design consultant for Royal Bank of Scotland for preserving and promoting the languishing tribal crafts of India. Moving to Fabindia gave me the opportunity to connect with various clusters across the country on traditional craft survival and revival. My experience gave me the chance to understand the intricacies of craftsmanship and value the stories behind the craft and the communities involved.
Pursuing a Masters in Innovation Management has allowed me to gain insights from international perspectives and a deeper understanding of how innovation opportunities can be identified and implemented. Having worked within different types of organisations in India, I’m currently looking into how creativity can be applied to organisations, business models and production processes in order to create sustainable practices. I’m also exploring the space pertaining to the shift from linear textile economy to circular textile economy and innovation management.
